Anyone wanting Karlsson will get him as a UFA if it comes to that. Unless the offer is substantial, you cant trade him. Problem with a lot of these offers is that they dont include potential to replace him. You can throw all the players you want but if there is nothing elite in the deal he doesnt move. OTT will resign him. EDM deal was the closest to a fair deal that was posted.

Getting Karlsson would take the Islanders from competing for a playoff spot to competing for a championship. Build around Karlsson, Tavares, Barzal, Eberle, Leddy and Pulock.

That's assuming Halak and/or Greiss could be relied upon in the playoffs. There's no doubt it would be a huge pick-up for them, not arguing that at all. I just think the Isles goaltending is still too shaky to make that kind of franchise-altering move. Maybe I'm being overly-conservative, but it's risky.
